Drawing is my way to try to discover something that I am uncertain about. Sketches are done quickly and a lot of them go into the trash while others survive because sometimes these quick sketches illustrate the path I follow seeking a goal that remains illusive.
XIRANA’S WORKS ON PAPER
Xirana Oximoxi was born in Barcelona, Spain.
Being of a versatile nature she did not specialize in one form of painting, but she is interested in many genres. She is also an avid investigator, experimenting with various painting mediums, varnishes and ways of achieving artistic effects.
A fine landscape painter, her landscapes unite authoritative draftsmanship and a strong sense of form with richly pigmented surfaces and impressionist color truth. Her heart is set on learning to paint in the tradition of the Great Masters, a knowledge whether recognized by the contemporary art world or not, she knows that the expressive potential of the great tradition to which she is dedicated, is not yet exhausted.
She wishes to create an art based on her experience of nature, an art that expresses a personal sense of beauty, an art that embodies craft of the highest order, an art that uses subjects both from the outside world and from the world of heart.
